MARTY BELAFSKY

An adorable publicity headshot
Birthdate: September 19, 1975

Martin “Mister Blister” Edward Belafsky, a native of Los Angeles, grew up with a natural talent and desire to perform. At the age of nine, he performed in a school production of “The Mikado,” which later led him to a six-week program of Teen Drama Workshop at Cal-State Northridge. There, he studied acting, comedy and dancing. Later, he began attending Taft High School.

By the time he reached the age of 14, he appeared on a Corn Pops commercial and had landed a role on NBC’s short-lived series, Hull High, as the adorable, photo-snapping geek Louis Plumb. The show was cancelled after six showings. Shortly afterward, he landed the role of Crutchy in the Disney movie, Newsies, and appeared in the drug warning shown before the movie. Unfortunately, Newsies flopped in the theaters too, so Marty temporarily left show business after completing a few more movies to complete his education.

He attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he pursued comedy and theater after declining the studies for so long. He was discovered to have that natural talent once more, and joined a nationally acclaimed collegiate comedy group, Improvidence. In 1997, he graduated from the “Out of Hand Juggling Club.” Upon graduating from the college, he began a career in the direction of stand up comedy, and became a regular at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles. He has also appeared on Destination: Stardom and The Lyricist’s Lounge on MTV. You can hear his routine, The Price is Right, by clicking

Marty still appears the Laugh Factory in Hollywood, performing random comedy routines. He made another short film, titled Spoof! An Insider’s Guide to a Short Film Success, a mockumentary on trying to make it in the film industry. In 2002, he appeared on a commercial for KFC, being referred by Jason Alexander as "Mr. Soggy Man." He toured Las Vegas casinos with various comedy acts, was seen on a commercial for Rolling Rock Beer, and has a new film coming out called Back by Midnight. His back can also be viewed in Men in Black 2 (which, in my opinion, was an awful movie).

It's been learned that Marty was recently discovered by comic Rodney Dangerfield, who now gets Marty gigs for the opening of Dangerfield’s shows at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and is featured in the "thank you" credits of the film A Token For Your Thoughts.
