ARVIE LOWE JR.

Publicity photo for the Rayzing Sons
Birthdate: February 3, 1978

Arvie Lowe Jr., a native of Los Angeles, California, first began entertaining at the age of eight. He began with a church Christmas pageant, and even sang on his church’s choir. However, his performing at a birthday party at his school opened doors for him to perform even more and appeared in many school plays. Soon, he decided that he wanted to pursue a career in acting and attended Regina School of Performing Arts.

At Regina, he studied voice and dance and took part in many dance competitions, and earning several first place awards. He was then cast as an extra in the film Box Office Funny, giving him exposure to the public. Now twelve, he and a friend were hired by Reebok Footwear to dance in advertisements. This led to a tour through New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Paris, and Germany.

Not long afterward, he was cast as Boots in the movie, Newsies. During the filming, he appeared in a drug warning before the movie, and hosted the “making of” featurette with fellow castmembers Aaron Lohr and Max Casella. In this special, he made a statement saying he thought this movie would be a big hit, but it went the opposite way. Arvie continued with his career by appearing in the movies and I’ll do Anything, and appearing in a few music videos.

In 1995, he took on a recurring role as “Ernie,” the overacting drama student, on the sitcom Sister, Sister, starring Tia and Tamera Mowry. He appeared on and off during the second and part of the third season before he left completely. He later made a guest appearance on Moesha before taking a break from the entertainment industry.

He reappeared in 1999 when he took another recurring role on the TV show, Smart Guy, starring the Mowry brother, Taj. Also around this time, Arvie appeared in a commercial for IDYKYDYC (okay, I don’t know the exact way to spell it!). In 2000, he appeared in a Superbowl commercial. He appeared in Queen’s
Bohemian Rhapsody parody commercial. He also appeared in the film, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle as a student, and made a guest appearance on NBC’s Saturday morning sitcom, City Guys.

In 2000, Arvie appeared in yet another Superbowl Mountain Dew commercial, this one involving skateboarders and an alien spaceship. He has also returned to making commercials for Reebok, mainly shown during the hit TV show, Survivor. In one of these Reebok commercials, he jumps over a moving car. His most recent commercials are two for McDonald's, both with him “saving” his dollar bills.

Arvie made a movie titled Focus back in 2001, and has most recently been named as a regular on the Disney channel’s Lizzie Maguire, as one of lead character Lizzie’s teachers, Mr. Dig. He's also joined a band called
Rayzing Sons, currently holding concerts in Southern California. Just released is SHOT, an indie film that Arvie just completed. The Rayzing Sons have a commercial out for Florida Orange Juice, rocking a kid out of bed!
